Chief Hawaiian monk seal is not interested in any of your guff; he’s much more interested in fish, and how many he can gobble up. The expression on this endangered seal’s face cracks me up: he has soft, sweet eyes and yet looks so very serious. This type of seal is one of the rarest marine mammals that you can (or more likely can’t find). They were hunted nearly to extinction in the 19th century and have been struggling since.

I like watching nature documentaries, and I’m noticing more and more animals are making their way onto the endangered list. It troubles me that I can’t just wander into the jungle, scoop them all up, and make them safe. I hate doing nothing. So, in an effort to make a dent, I’ll be donating 10% of my profits from the sales of the The Royals to two organizations helping to protect our animal friends: WildAid (http://www.wildaid.org/about-wildaid) and The Orangutan Foundation (http://orangutan.org/). Both organizations are rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator.
