King Honu is cavorting with the sea horses.
On a trip to Kauai, I had the pleasure of bumping into both a friendly sea turtle, as well as a sea horse! The sea turtle and I floated along together for quite some time. He was busy munching on bits of sea vegetation among the shallows. I did my best to give him space and he seemed fine with my company. I also found a single sea horse while out snorkeling. Such sweet little things! King Honu (Sea Turtle in Hawaiian) is wearing the crown of King Kamehameha.

I like watching nature documentaries, and I’m noticing more and more animals are making their way onto the endangered list. Beluga whales were commercially hunted during the 19th century and have struggled to maintain their population since. It troubles me that I can’t just wander into the ocean, scoop them all up, and make them safe. I hate doing nothing. So, in an effort to make a dent, I’ll be donating 10% of my profits from the sales of the The Royals to two organizations helping to protect our animal friends: WildAid (http://www.wildaid.org/about-wildaid) and The Orangutan Foundation (http://orangutan.org/). Both organizations are rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator.
