Where the Light Gets In

I struggled a bit with naming this series. I was thinking about fireflies and hope, and the phrase “Hope lights the way” kept coming to mind, though it felt a little cheesy. But maybe that’s what we need right now.

I settled on “Where the Light Gets In,” inspired by Leonard Cohen’s line: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” With everything going on—the division, the confusion, the challenges we face—it can feel overwhelming. But through this series, I’ve used my art to focus on finding light in dark moments. Each painting reflects that journey, with flickers of hope breaking through the shadows. I hope it brings a little light to your day, too.
